Joseph Newman has solved a crystal structure of the viral helicase at 1.94 Angstrom resolution (PDB: 6ZSL).

Joseph Newman has solved a crystal structure of the viral helicase at 1.94 Angstrom resolution (PDB: 6ZSL). This is a significant improvement on previously published structures of the SARS and MERS helicases. The crystals are highly reproducible and have been submitted to the XChem fragment screening team at Diamond Light source (Alice Douangamath), identifying 50-60 hits out of 600 compounds screened, with several compounds binding in both the nucleotide and RNA binding sites. See the details in Joseph’s open lab notebook.
