Metabolomics & Lipidomics
The CMD and CAMS-COI co-host our Metabolomics & Lipidomics Teams with expertise in the measurement of a wide range of metabolites and lipids.
Metabolomics & Lipidomics platforms
In the group, we have the expertise to measure a range of metabolites by using either targeted LC-MS or GCxGC-MS based analytical platforms. From samples such as cell extracts, tissue extracts, blood plasma/serum or urine, we can measure amino acids, fatty acids, lipid subsets, cholesterol and derivatives, nucleosides and small polar components of glycolysis, the Krebs cycle including lactate, short chain fatty acids, polyamines, steroid, eicosanoid, fatty acid and sphingolipid.
The Lipidomics platform, part of the COI - Mass Spectrometry Laboratory at NDM, allows the identification and quantification of targeted lipids in physiological samples, including cells, media, serum/plasma, and tissue. For the moment we have been working on inflammatory lipids (eicosanoids and relevant fatty acids) and steroids, but this workflow can be implemented for other lipid families.
